Variation in variety. Of 12 plants four are light green, eight are yellow green. Of the yellow green plants, three have purple pigmentation on the petioles. Leaves are orbicular to spatulate in shape and have a slight lobed to dissected outline and wavy margin. Leaves have low to moderate blistering and a semi-prostrate angle. Slight heading capabilities. Plants measure 14-18 inches tall and 28-45 inches wide. Average taste qualities.

Fairly uniform with the exception of 1 plant that is darker green in color and leaves are much more blistered. Leaves are ovate and have a slightly lobed outline and wavy margin. Leaves have high to moderate blistering and an open angle. Above average heading capabilities. Plants measure 9.5-17 inches tall and 23-38 inches wide. Excellent eating qualities. Described as earthy, sweet, and low bitterness.

Variety is rather uniform. One plant has less blistering and less ruffling at the margin, while two plants have a bit of purple on underside of petioles, and slight variation in plant color from green to light green. Leaves are spatulate in shape with a lobed outline and wavy to toothed margin. Leaves have low to moderate blistering and light green to purple petioles. Plants have a moderate heading capability. Plants measure 15.5-27 inches tall and 28-42 inches wide. Variety has a slight spice to it and is a bit bitter.

Most plants are uniform. One plant has more horizontal, spreading leaves. Another plant is a lighter shade of green. All plants display some variation in leaf angle from almost erect to spreading. Leaves are spatulate with a lobed outline and wavy to toothed margin. Leaves have low to moderate blistering and are open to prostrate. Non-heading variety. Plants measure 13-32 inches tall and 20-42 inches wide. People either really liked the strong spicy flavor or hate it.

Big Daddy Old Fashioned Bluestem – 85

Variation in variety. Of 10 plants, one plant has very erect leaves that are highly dissected. One plant is not glossy and has blue-green leaves. One plant is not glossy and has green leaves. Of the seven remaining glossy plants, three are more prostrate. Leaves are elliptic with a lobed to highly dissected outline and wavy margin. Leaves have low to high blistering and a narrow to intermediate midvein. Leaf angle ranges from open to erect. Non-heading variety. Plants measure 15-24 inches tall and 20-47 inches wide. Plants were damaged when low temperatures reach 20 F. Some liked the strong, earthy flavor, while others thought it was not great.
