Uniform with the exception of one plant that has more crinkled leaves and a more dentate margin. It also has some pigmentation on the petioles. Leaves are green with a slightly wavy outline and wavy margin. Leaves also have moderate blistering and curve slightly upward. Plants are semi-prostrate and develop well-formed heads. Plants measure 13.5-18 inches tall and 36-48 inches wide. Average taste qualities.

Fuzzy’s Cabbage Collard – 70

Slight variation in population. One plant is a lighter shade of green while another has light purple petioles. Leaves orbicular to spatulate in shape with a wavy to toothed margin. Leaves have low blistering and are drooping. Plants are semi-prostrate and have a slight heading capability. Plants measure 10-20 inches tall and 22-38 inches wide. Average taste qualities.

Moses Smith Yellow Cabbage Collard – 72

Fairly uniform but one plant is significantly darker green than others. Leaves are light green to blue-green with an elliptic to ovate shape, lobed outline, and wavy margin. Most stems are light green with a touch of purple coloring. Leaves have low to moderate blistering. Plants measure 10.5-22 inches tall and 23-40 inches wide. Average eating qualities.

E.B. Paul – 73

Uniform variety. One plant is a shade bit lighter green than the others, and all are rather compact plants. Leaves are elliptic with an entire, wavy margin, and intermediate blistering. Leaves are rather straight and erect. Plants measure 10.5-17 inches tall and 21-30 inches wide. Above average heading capabilities. Fared well when low temperatures reached 20 F. This was well-liked by staff as it is sweet with just a hint of bitterness.

Nancy Malone Wheat Purple Collard – 56

Uniform variety. Ovate leaves are dark green with entire to slightly toothed margins and a lobed outline. Leaves have moderate blistering and purple petioles and midveins. Plants have purple stems and measure 16.5-22 inches tall and 35-43 inches wide. Plants do not form heads. Plants damaged when temperatures reached 20 F. Tender and sweet with some bitterness.
