We manage two acres at Oregon State University’s North Willamette Research and Extension Center in Aurora, OR. Since 2015 the Learning Farm site has hosted vegetable and cover crop variety trials, dry farming demonstrations, applied research, and hands-on workshops for small-scale farmers. We are looking for vegetable varieties that will do well in our climate and partner with Culinary Breeding Network to evaluate crops and variety for flavor. Each year we host hundreds of visitors for field days and tours sharing the work we’re doing in Organic vegetable production.
The farm is located 25 miles south of Portland. Heidi Noordijk of the OSU Small Farms Program manages the site along with help from co-workers and student workers. We are very excited to be participating in the Heirloom Collard Project.
